TAYSIDEPROPERTY

Privacy

This explains what we keep about you, why, who helps us, and how to have it changed or deleted. Last updated 5 October 2026.

Who we are

Tayside Property is run by Dundee Promotions Limited, a company registered in Scotland (number SC827727), whose registered office is 4 Valentine Court, Dundee Business Park, Dundee DD2 3QB.

We decide how the information below is used, so under UK data protection law we are its controller. Questions, or any of the requests further down: hello@taysidepropertycentre.co.uk.

Looking at homes

You can search, save and hide homes without telling us anything. We use no advertising trackers, and we set no cookies unless you allow Google Analytics (below). Saved homes, hidden homes, recently viewed homes and your searches are kept in your own browser. We never see them unless you sign in.

Like every website, our server and our content delivery network briefly record technical details of each request (your IP address, the page and your browser type) to keep the site running and secure.

Property alerts

If you set an alert we keep your email address, what you searched for and how often you want emails. To stop abuse we also keep a scrambled version of your IP address that can't be turned back into the address, and your browser type.

We use this only to send the alerts you asked for. We send one email first to check the address is yours, and nothing more until you confirm. Every alert email has a one-click unsubscribe. Alerts never confirmed, and alerts you unsubscribe from, are deleted after 30 days. The legal basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time by unsubscribing.

My Tayside account

Signing in is optional. If you do, we keep your email address, your saved, hidden and recently viewed homes and your alerts, so they appear on your other devices. Sign-in uses a link we email you: there is no password. A browser you haven't used for six months is signed out. You can sign out everywhere, or delete your account and everything in it, from My Tayside at any time. We keep this to provide the account you asked for.

Estate agents

When an agency signs up we keep the details on the form: agency name, contact name, email, phone, website, offices and any notes, plus a scrambled IP address. We use them to set up and run the agency's listings and to contact the agency about them.

Homes an agent sends us are shown publicly, with the agency's name and phone number, because that is the point of listing them. If an agent connects their property software, the details it needs are stored encrypted and used only to collect that agent's listings.

We may email estate agencies about listing with us, using the business contact details they publish. Anyone who asks us to stop won't hear from us again.

For agents the legal basis is the agreement to list homes with us, and our legitimate interest in running and growing a local property search.

Who helps us

These companies handle information for us, only to provide their service:

  • netcup (Germany) hosts the website and its database.
  • Bunny.net (EU) delivers the pages and photos quickly and securely.
  • Postmark (USA) sends our emails: alert confirmations and alerts, sign-in links and messages to agents.
  • Migadu (Switzerland) runs our hello@ mailbox.

Where information leaves the UK, we rely on the protections UK data protection law requires for that transfer.

Two more services are contacted by your own browser when you view the site: Google Fonts supplies the typefaces and OpenStreetMap supplies the map images. Each receives your IP address as part of that request, under its own privacy policy. We look up the postcodes of homes for sale with postcodes.io; that involves no information about you.

Google Analytics

The first time you visit, we ask whether we can count your visit with Google Analytics. Nothing is loaded unless you choose Allow. If you do, Google Analytics sets cookies (their names start with _ga) and receives the pages you view, how you got here, your type of device and browser, and your approximate location worked out from your IP address. Google doesn't keep the IP address itself. We've switched off Google signals and ad personalisation, so it isn't used for advertising.

We use it only to see which parts of the site are useful, and we keep the data for no more than 14 months. Our lawful basis is your consent. Change your mind at any time with Cookie choices at the foot of every page; choosing No thanks removes the cookies.

We never sell your details, and we never pass buyers' details to agents, mortgage brokers or anyone else. If you contact an agent about a home, you do that directly with the agent.

Your rights

You can ask to see what we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to take a copy with you. Email hello@taysidepropertycentre.co.uk and we'll reply within a month. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Changes

If we change how we use your information we'll update this page, and tell alert subscribers and agents by email about anything significant.
